Occupational Health and Safety Policy
At Express Glass our Occupational Health, Safety and Rehabilitation Policy is based on a belief that the well-being of people employed at work, or people affected by our work is a major priority and must be considered during all work performed on our behalf.
Commitment
Express Glass is committed to the proper application and management of Occupational Health, Safety & Rehabilitation (OHS&R) in our offices, factories and on site locations.
It’s Express Glass�aim to eliminate the risk of accidents and injury to our employees, contractors, subcontractors and other persons by ensuring a planned and resourceful approach to OHS&R and to comply with all relevant Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice concerning our workplace activities.
Responsibilities
Occupational Health, Safety & Rehabilitation responsibilities start from the Managing Director and filter through all levels of management and onto all employees, contractors and subcontractors as defined in the Express Glass Safety Management System.
Consultation
Express Glass has consultation systems in place through an OHS&R Committee set up to meet once a month, or more often as needed. Furthermore, each employee meets at least quarterly with management on a one-on-one basis during which OHS&R is a compulsory agenda item.
This policy is strategically communicated to all employees, contractors and subcontractors.
Employees, Contractors and Subcontractors
All employees, contractors and subcontractors are required to actively cooperate and are encouraged to contribute towards OHS&R in our company ensuring safety to themselves and others in the workplace.
Employees, contractors and subcontractors are required by law under “Duty of Care�to ensure the health and safety of themselves and those affected by their work to the extent of their capacity by following all safety procedures and instructions and by reporting all hazards, injuries or incidents.
Application
The application of this policy will be effected through the Express Glass Safety Management System which forms an integral part of our day to day operations.
The system ensures proper application of:
- Risk management;
- Inductions and training;
- Hazard reporting;
- Incident, accident and injury reporting;
- First aid and accident investigation;
- Return to work and rehabilitation management;
- Plant and equipment management;
- Electrical procedures including tagging and testing;
- Hazardous substance procedures;
- Drugs and alcohol policy;
- Fire protection, training and consultation;
